The Steel City Invitational is always a good measuring stick for teams and players. It’s a good spot for evaluators like myself to see kids compete against other college prospects all in one place. For the most part, the top kids did their parts and the improvement and confidence gained during the off season was evident.
The class of 2018 may not be the best class to come through but it is panning out to be a decent class. Although some of the top prospects have decided to transfer out of state, we decided to keep them in the rankings with our new format.
The second annual Battle For The Rankings is one to remember. As usual, there are always hidden gems and late bloomers ready to emerge as the next guy. There were actually several and we will tell you first hand, they’re legit!
If you’re a state of Alabama high school basketball fan, you should have heard of Josh Roberts before. Well then again maybe you haven’t. In today’s world of recruiting it’s hard for prospects to go unnoticed.
It might be a little too early to be ranking the class of 2020 but this group of freshman is very talented. Most of the kids listed lead their respective high school teams in either scoring or rebounding while all of them are starters. There is even room to add a few more to the list but we will wait to see how they all pan out in the future before we expand the list too early. That has kinda been the story here in Alabama and there are three kids worthy of that tag. [Read Here] At 6-foot-7 with a college ready physique, most question why Pitts is flying under the radar like he is. [Read Here] Alabama has just put together arguably the best recruiting class ever in the state with the commitment of John Petty last night prior to Mae Jemison's inaugural home game. Petty is the first five star basketball prospect (ESPN #25) to sign with the Crimson Tide since JaMychal Green of St. Jude back in 2008 unless you want to argue Trevor Lacey who was a four star on ESPN but a five star on Rivals.
